... and here, Sub-Saharan Africa is meant. As with Eurasia, Africa, the second largest continent, really should be considered two continents, the 9,400,000 square kilometer Sahara Desert having made it so ...

Filipo Ambatiza Afisa Wa Ethiopia

Malaika wa Bwana alimwambia Filipo, ``Nenda upande wa kusini kwenye ile barabara itokayo Yerusalemu kuelekea Gaza.'' Hii ilikuwa barabara iendayo jangwani. Filipo akaondoka akaenda. Akaamuru gari lisimamishwe. Wakateremka, yule towashi na Filipo, wakaenda pale kwenye maji. Filipo akamba tiza. Matendo Ya

Mitume 8:26-40 (in Swahili/Kiswahili)

Angel bearing script on Cathedral of Holy Trinity in Addis Ababa

But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert road. And he rose and went. And behold, an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a minister of the Can'dace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of all her treasure, had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" And he said, "How can I, unless some one guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this:

"As a sheep led to the slaughter
or a lamb before its shearer is dumb,
so he opens not his mouth.
In his humiliation justice was denied him.
Who can describe his generation?
For his life is taken up from the earth." [from Isaiah 53:7, 8]

And the eunuch said to Philip, "About whom, pray, does the prophet say this, about himself or about some one else?" Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture he told him the good news of Jesus. And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?"

Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."[the oldest and best manuscripts omit this Verse 37]

And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught up Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azo'tus, and passing on he preached the gospel to all the towns till he came to Caesare'a.

His Holiness Abune Paulos (* 3 November 1935 – 16 August 2012 †), Patriarch and Catholicos
of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, with
40 to 45 million adherents, the most populous of the
Oriental Orthodox Churches. My photo of 21 April 2011, and so it goes. Otto von Habsburg has passed. Very kind Msgr. Albert Rauch is, since 2015, also of blessed memory. Of the others, I have not checked in a long time. Men often in their seventies, eighties, even nineties, and then we take too long with our work, and they die.

There is of course nothing wrong with a people receiving Christianity through the work of European missionaries. On the contrary, such work is to the greater glory of God. Still, within Sub-Saharan Africa an extra dimension can be found in the Christianity of Ethiopia, where, as the above Bible passage attests, Christianity was received in the First Century and directly from the Holy Land. Over the period from c. 330-350 and through the work of Saint Frumentius (died c. 383), a Syro-Phoenician Greek born in Tyre, King Aezana (also transliterated as Ezana), king of the Ethiopian Aksumite Kingdom, adopted Christianity as the official state religion, with most of the people embracing Christianity, centuries before many of the peoples of Europe received Christianity and were converted. The Orthodox Church of Eritrea, whether fortunately or unfortunately, is now separate from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.   Pio XI Orbis Terrarum Catholico Patri

Addis Ababa is also home to the headquarters of the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and even in secular atheist circles it is often referred to as the Capital of Africa, meaning as a practical and realistic matter, if not in rhetoric, Sub-Saharan Africa.

For the foregoing and other reasons there are very good arguments supporting the conclusion that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church should and could form the nucleus around which a Christian African spiritual and civilizational integrity might develop, a United African Christendom.

  The project which is United European Christendom explicitly rejects any form of Racial Determinism, including, without limitation, the particularly pernicious view that only the Descendants and heirs of European Christendom are capable of building civilizations from which such civilizations' own sons and daughters do not wish to escape at the first opportunity.

Regarding the relationship between, on the one side Europeans and the Descendants of European Christendom whereever located, and, on the other side Sub-Saharan Africans and their descendants whereever located, the lexicon in which the terms "racist" and indeed non-racist or rejector of racism, and "white supremacist" and indeed "color blind" feature so prominently is less than insufficient. Such lexicon, and the thought categories which inspire it, are defective.

A great deal of work is required here. The situation which has long existed is very bad. Nothing that comes from Atheist-cum-Talmudic Jews, their ubiquitous hypocrisy and their synagogue of Satan (Revelation 2:9) will make the situation better, or indeed forestall further descent into hate and chaos. Note, for example, in the year 2018 many of the best-informed Descendants of European Christendom on the issues are predicting a genocidal civil war within the disaster that is "black-"governed South Africa, like to unfold within the coming five years, as Bantu (Zulu) Sub-Saharan Africans unleash their fury and rage on the "Boer" Descendants of European Christendom, in a collective act of resentment at the incomparably higher level of development — intellectual, material, scientific, civilizational, cultural — of the Boer. The Jew-controlled mass media of The West, by acts of commission and omission have brought this matter to its present state.

  The present writer does not have all the answers. No one does, no one except God. But two things at least are clear: (1) Sub-Saharan Africans will themselves have to build families, communities, societies and a civilization that their own people do not wish to escape from at the first opportunity. Until they do, the sense of equality with Europeans that they so intensely yearn for will continue to elude them, in their own minds and in the minds of all other peoples of the world. (The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans and other Asians do not play the absurd, politically correct games of the "liberals" or "progressives" of The West. They laugh at the collective and individual idiocy of most Descendants of European Christendom.); and (2) The mass immigration out of Sub-Saharan Africa and into European Christendom of the most talented and capable, most energetic and entrepreneurial of the Sub-Saharan African peoples cripples utterly the aspirations of the world for Sub-Saharan African development, while immiserating utterly the mass of Sub-Saharan Africans left behind, something that our Catholic bishops and priests would do well to ever keep in mind, avoiding their present inclinations toward incessantly but mindlessly taking up this topic.

But of course for this to be a realistic possibility the Schism must be healed, the schism among the Oriental Orthodox, Orthodox and Catholic Churches. While of those Sub-Saharan Africans embracing a faith more than half are Christains, most of those Christians are Protestants and Catholics, not Oriental Orthodox or Orthodox. And as elsewhere in the world, so too in Sub-Saharan Africa, these divided Christians bicker and compete endlessly with each other, undermining the cause of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and undermining the development of a Christian civilizational integrity.

So just as a recognition of the need to restore Christian civilizational integrity within European Christendom — a recognition of the desparate straights to which we have come and into which continued descent is accelerating — appears to be a large part of what will be required to prompt heirarchs within and among the Catholic, Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches to finally undertake the hard work, introspection and self-criticism necessary to Heal the Schism Now, so too is this healing of the schism a necessary pre-requisite to Africans having a realistic opportunity of building the civilizational integrity of a United African Christendom.

  King Azana (also transliterated as Ezana) of Axum (320s – c. 360) was the first king of Axum to embrace Christianity, in c. 330 Anno Domini, most of his people following, such having come about in part through the work of Saint Frumentius (died c. 383), a Syro-Phoenician Greek born in Tyre, God always being the source of all that is holy. (Clovis, the first King of France to be baptized, was baptized in 498. Mieszko I, the first ruler in Poland to be baptized, was baptized in 966.) The Kingdom of Axum (also transliterated as Aksum), c. 100 – c. 940 lay in terriotories now part of Ethiopia and Eritrea, and across the Red Sea much smaller territories in present day Yemen and southern Saudi Arabia. The New Testament was translated from Greek into Geez, the classical language of Ethiopia, in the VI century. United African Christendom

... a dream for the future, the work of another people ...

Might an outsider be allowed to suppose that it would be more gratifying in every respect for Sub-Saharan Africans to possess societies — their own constructions under their own control — from which their members do not wish to flee at every opportunity, than to demand, and in many cases obtain, access and advancement within other civilizations fundamentally not their own constructions? Postponing reference to outstanding individuals, might it also be proposed as a general matter that a Christian civilization is one from which its members do not wish to flee?

The group which wishes to deny Africans this dignity and integrity obviously has some other agenda.

Some additional facts about Sub-Saharan Africa and about Sub-Saharan Africans are offered below, to be studied and verified by the reader as the reader may see fit:

Though generally classed as part of Sub-Saharan Africa, as with North Africa where the vast majority of the populations live along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, so too with the five, large northerly countries of Sub-Saharan Africa -- from West to East: Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and Sudan -- the China- or USA- or Canada-size Sahara Desert covers a majority or even the vast majority of their land mass. Consequently the vast majority of the populations of these five countries live in their southern extremities, where the Sahara melds into the tropical savanna. With the exception of Chad -- where c. 35 percent of the population is Christian with those mostly located in the far south of the country and in the province of Guéra -- the overwhelming majority of the populations of these five countries is Muslim. Mauritania on the western-most and Sudan on the eastern-most extremes of this belt of land are also more ethnically Arab than the three in the middle. These circumstances of course reinforce the well-grounded view that Islam is at its most fundamental a religion of Arabian desert nomads preying on the produce of settled populations. Were the Christian southern portion of Chad (as did Southern Sudan) to succeed and form its own nation-state, as it should and likely will, then the balance of the failed state of Chad could be considered along with these other four to be, if not part of Northern Africa, then neither part of Sub-Saharan Africa and what might become United African Christendom. Rather these five should be considered what they largely are, neither Super-Saharan nor Sub-Saharan but simply Saharan. (The name Sahara derives from the Arabic word for desert.) Considering these circumstances, these five countries, less southern Chad, with their relatively quite sparse (considering the huge land mass) combined population of about 70 million Muslims, would not be candidates for inclusion and incorporation into any larger civilizational amalgamation along the lines of United African Christendom.

(As the tiny impoverished archipelago island nation of Comoros, located in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and mainland Africa, is 98 percent Islamic, there is no reason to discuss this country in connection with United African Christendom.)

Thus, Sub-Saharan Africa consists of 39 mainland countries plus 5 island nations, with a combined territory of 17,947,325 km² and a combined population of 760,000,000, about 42 people per square kilometer. (For comparison, Europe, including European Russia, and the United States of America, including Alaska, have a combined territory of 20,006,675 km² and a combined population of c. 1,044,000,000 people, that is, about 52 people per square kilometer.)

So much for basic geography.

Regretably, not all of the 44 countries of Sub-Saharan Africa referred to just above can be considered even potential candidates for inclusion within a hypothetical greater civilizational amalgamation along the lines of a United African Christendom. While many of the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa have sizeable Muslim minorities opposing Christian majorities in varying levels of active hate and hostility, there are five countries in Sub-Saharan Africa with Muslim majorities which have to be removed from consideration at the outset. These are:

-Somalia (a failed state and one of the poorest and most violent in the world)
-Djibouti (tiny, proped up by the French)
-Senegal (doing better, still very poor)
-The Gambia (tiny, very poor)
-Guinea (adult literacy rate less than 30%, the lowest in the world, and an impoverished population in spite of enormous mineral wealth spread across a sparce population)

Middle-income, oil-rich Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa by far, with c. 170 million people, more than triple the population in 1970, is also a special case, although the 50 percent of the population which is Muslim live overwhelmingly in the north of the country, while the 50 percent which is Christian live overwhelminly in the south.

  In summary, if United African Christendom is to be built, it will likely be built with these 39 countries:

Ethiopia
Eritrea

South Africa (1,221,037 km2) — though it is hard to be optimistic about anything the successors and descendants of the Zulus (an ethnic Bantu people) are going to come up with. Disgusting as was Zulu King Dingane's lying, treacherous murder of a few hundred disarmed men, women and children Voortrekkers (Descendants of European Christendom), together with a number of Sān or Khoesān people traveling with the Voortrekkers, in the 6 February 1838 Weenen Massacre, such a victim tally pales when one reflects on the fratricidal and homicidal orgy the Zulu/Bantu carried out in their c. 1815 to 1840 "Mfecane," with its death toll of 1-2 million people. Nota Bene, the Khoesān people are the "aboriginal" South African people, NOT the Bantu. The simpleminded can and do just call the Khoesān people "black" and conflate them with the Zulu/Bantu, but they are a very different group of people, physically, mentally, spiritually and by temperment. (Many in "the West" will have been introduced to the Sān or Khoesān by the loveable lead character in the 1980 film, The Gods Must be Crazy.) As for the Bantu/Zulu — the ancestors of Nelson Mandela and wife Winnie, of gasoline "necklacing" fame — except in tiny numbers they began coming to South Africa in the early XIX century, essentially contemporaneously with their Mfecane rampage. In other words the Descendants of European Christendom, that is, the Boer, the Afrikaners, the "white" South Africans had been accumulating seniority in South Africa for more than a century and a half before the Bantu showed up, with a million or two corpses in their wake. The Europeans arrived in 1652 with the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC or Dutch East India Company) which then served as a bridgehead for later waives of European immigrants. Technologically of course the Descendants of European Christendom built South Africa. Presently, at this 2018 writing, the seething, raging resentments of the Bantu at the incomparably more developed "white" South Africans, is threatening to escalate from its present level of hourly, government-condoned murders of "whites," into an all out race war. Russia and Australia might rescue large numbers of these victims. The "white" South Africans, the Boer, number about 4.5 million people out of a total population of about 55 million, up from a total of less than 14 million in 1950, an increase in no small measure due to the millions of Bantu who clamoured to get into Apartheid-era South Africa. The Boer should all be invited to immigrate into the country of European Christendom of their choice, even if they bring no money or property with them. No Bantu should be permitted to immigrate into any country of European Christendom. They should be left to reap what they have sowed, and all of European Christendom should take note of this "case study" in rainbow nations, while the media establishment continues their lies. Christians in European Christendom should, of course, help Christians in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Nigeria — "There Are No Successful Black Nations

"Racism is not limited to the Unites States. There is no nonblack nation, even among the most liberal ones, where the black man is dignified. History dealt us an unforgiving blow in the incursion of foreigners into black lands. The Arabs enslaved tribes and nations and then colonized and evangelized them. Then came the Europeans, who, persuaded the Africans were of an inferior race, divided up the continent over lunch in Berlin in 1884. ...

"Be assured, the indignity will continue. Black elites and activists across the world have adopted a culture of verbal tyranny in which they shut down any effort to reason or criticize us or black-majority nations by labeling such attempts as "racism" or "hate speech." .... Thus, no one will talk about the painful fact that most African and Caribbean nations have either failed or are about to collapse.

"Early African-American intellectuals and cultural elites saw that the future of their race could not be advanced by endless protests or marches of "equality" or "justice." It could only be done through the restoration of the trampled dignity of the black man. Great men like Marcus Garvey, W. E. B. Du Bois, and Malcolm X all knew that a people is only respected when it has a nation worthy of respect. A man who lives in a shack cannot expect to be treated with respect at a palace. They knew that for us to reclaim power we must first reclaim dignity and that this comes through the construction of a solid black state with a demonstrable level of development and prosperity ...

"Today, no such state exists.

"Nigeria, the most populous black nation on Earth, is on the brink of collapse. The machineries that make a nation exist, let alone succeed, have all eroded. One might argue that the nation’s creation by self-seeking white imperialists engendered its failure from the beginning, as I did in my recent novel. But this is only a part of the cause. A culture of incompetence, endemic corruption, dignified ineptitude, and, chief among all, destructive selfishness and greed has played a major role in its unravelling. The same, sadly, can be said for most other African nations. States like Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea are farcical democracies ruled by men who exclusively cater to their interests and those of their clipped circles.

"Thus, it is no surprise that in the absence of any healthy black nation — in the midst of chaos, senseless wars, corrupted religiosity, violence, and economic collapse — African and Caribbean people leave home en masse. They beg on the streets of Greece, prostitute in the red-light zones of the Netherlands, and make up 40 percent of the migrants flocking to Europe. As they turn up in these countries, helpless, unwanted, starved, or maimed, they are treated like dogs. ...

"Black elites should allow for self-criticism and soul-searching and for the restoration of the Pan-Africanist movement with an eye toward building sustainable black nations. We must come to realize that to a great extent the fate of the black man in America is inextricably linked to that of his brother in Africa." — Chigozie Obioma, quotations from foreignpolicy.com/2016/08/09/there-are-no-successful-black-nations-africa-diginty-racism-pan-africanism/ —

Was a time when hypocrisy and deception were considered evils, their purveyors understood to be in spiritual jeopardy. In more recent decades many in the Orthodox-Catholic Church would have it the other way around. And let us not play deceptive diplomat, the Catholic Church is remarkable here. Those who reject such hypocrisy and deception are told, usually indirectly and for that all the more incessantly, that they are in danger of damnation if they do not buy into the deception. By "many in the Orthodox-Catholic Church," priests, bishops, archbishops and even Popes are chiefly meant, though the professors work their pernicious fraud in parallel. Whether the manifestation is mass immigration, Lampedusa, civil "rights", transfer-payment entitlements or something else, these Church leaders are basically being generous only with other peoples' lives. It is not their ten-year-old who will have to go to school with a Somalian child ex-soldier. They will not have to work with, even take orders from, the co-worker which the company was forced to hire, retain and promote to avoid a civil "rights" lawsuit. It is poorer European Christians, read actual workers, who will have to "welcome the stranger" into their neighborhoods en masse, with all that this means in reality, not in ivory tower contemplation. It is they, those children, those families who will have to deal with, to suffer with, this demographic replacement level phenomenon, while the prelates preach welcome to people they would never permit in any kind of permanent way into their own palatial presence. Are there exceptions? Yes, countless, though in recent decades almost exclusively among the humble priests not serving in European Christendom and not making these speeches.

Though enormous resources have been and are being expended to obfuscate, downplay and just deceive, it is not possible to accurately understand the Transatlantic Slave Trade in slaves from Sub-Saharan Africa, or indeed the much more recent phenomenon of Mass Immigration into European Christendom, in isolation from informed understanding On the Jewish Question, and with such the paramout role of the Jews in these two civilizational phenomena.

newport_rhode_island_touro_synagogue

And how appropriate that the first synagogue in the United States of America would be in Newport, Rhode Island, as Newport was the center of the African slave trade in the United States at that time, the terminal point of the Middle Passage for Sub-Saharan Africans in the transatlantic slave trade dominated by the Jews, a story of central importance that Hollywood is not going to be telling.

NAACP
Not Sub-Saharan Africans or their descendants in the United States of America or elsewhere, instigated and lead and financed the NAACP, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. From its founding in 1909 this was an Atheist and Talmudic Jew instigated and financed and lead organization, a key component of the so-called Black-Jewish Alliance, designed to serve the self-perceived interests of the Jews, who couldn't care less about the welfare, temporal or eternal, of the African.

  Sub-Saharan Africans transplated to and living within the many and varied territories of European Christendom do not understand their material circumstances within European Christendom in comparison or with reference to the circumstances of Sub-Saharan Africans living in Sub-Saharan Africa. Rather, resentments are formed and fostered by comparing their circumstances within European Christendom to the circumstances of the Descendants of European Christendom. Though increasing the amount of unkindness or uncouthness abroad in the world is no part of the goal of the project which is United European Christendom, telling the truth on important civilizational phenomena can not be regarded as a thing of evil.

- similar numbers again in 2012 (most recent year for which national, full-year statistics available);
- only 44 percent of violent crimes are reported to police; the Descendants of Sub-Saharan Africa ("DSSA") report such crimes to the police with significanly greater frequency than do the Descendants of European Christendom ("DEC");
- rates of arrest, conviction and incarceration for all categories of violent crime are dramatically higher for DSSA than for DEC over the five decades from 1964 through 2014, as also reflected in the 2012 national, full-year statistics;
- approximately one-third of DSSA males in America will be incarcerated sometime during their lives (and incarceration rates are lower than conviction; there are far fewer convictions than arrests; there are dramatically fewer arrests than crimes);
- approximately 93 percent of DSSA homicide victims are killed by other DSSA;
- interracial homicide rates in the United States in 2012, though low compared with overall homicide rates, when adjusted for the relative percentage size of each racial group within the total population, indicate that a DSSA is more than 13 times more likely to kill a DEC, than vice versa. (FBI UCR Table 6 and census.gov; and note, the United States Department of Justice is headed by a Descendant of Sub-Saharan Africa, and they do NOT make it easy to find inter-racial crime statistics and information. Worse still, the United States Government and State and local governments manipulate the numbers in an effort to understate the strikingly greater incidence of "black against white" crime than the reverse, as for example through the absurd expedient of recording mulattoes or just lighter-skin Africans as "white". ) Folks, this is about religion and civilization, when welcoming strangers is good and when good fences make good neighbors. It is not about absurdities like color palettes for people and compass directions determining alliances;
- regarding total violent crime (aggravated assault; simple assault; rape and sexual assault; robbery; home invasion/burglary) the situation is much more unequal still than with homicide, enormously so in fact. Overall interracial violent crime statistics indicate a differential (DSSA criminal and DEC victim versus DEC criminal and DSSA victim) of approximately 39 times, that is, a randomly selected DSSA is 39 times as likely to victimize a DEC than the reverse. These ratios are yielded from government supplied statistics. Common experience suggests that the "44 percent of crimes reported to police" figure is far too high. With urban street crime, where the criminal and the victim are strangers to each other, there will be very few situations, it will be a small minority of cases, in which the robbed or assaulted DEC victim will see any purpose to be served by increasing his or her injury and humiliation through an hours- or days-long, frustrating and pointless encounter with police bureaucracy. Common wisdom will also have to be called upon if one is to speculate how very much higher crime would be if DEC did not engage in a constant regime of avoidance behavior and cowering. School bullying, the horror that is so often an American urban public school, will have to be dealt with elsewhere;
- of all variables, the strongest statistical correlation exists between the incidence of crime in a given community within the United States and the percentage of DSSA in such community.

  The situations in Brussels and in Berlin are not better.

  These circumstances will change if and as Sub-Saharan Africans embrace and develop a Christianity-centered civilizational integrity. Indeed, if and as dis-United half-European post-Christendom continues its descent, if Sub-Saharan Africans do embrace and develop a Christianity-centered civilizational integrity, they will ascend, catch up and surpass the Descendants of European Christendom. All Glory be to God! The balance of advantage between Africans on the one side and Europeans on the other may look very different 500 years from now, and perhaps far sooner, than it does today.

... but Muslims have other ideas for Africa, as they have had for fourteen centuries ... and so do the Jews.

Of course the Muslims have other ideas for Africa. Enslaving, torturing and murdering Sub-Saharan Africans, black Africans, has been the most major feature of the interaction between Arab Muslims and Sub-Saharan Africans for the past thirteen centuries, eclipsing the 300-year period of time during which Europeans were engaged in this decidedly un-Christian business. So too in numbers of slaves taken, the Arabs outdid and outdo several fold the already staggering figure of 10 million taken by Europeans. Moreover without this pattern of dealing, and the readiness of their Muslim masters to sell them, Europeans might never have been inclined to or able to enter into this most shameful, and self-destructive, chapter in their history.

Perhaps more harmful to the Africans than the Muslims trying to enslave and kill them are European and American Christians trying to help them, as this primarily takes the form of permitting and even facilitating and financing the constant brain-drain of the most energetic and entrepreneurial of Sub-Saharan Africans out of Sub-Saharan Africa and into European Christendom.

There are other issues of course. There is the "aid" given to Africa, which has chiefly gone into the Swiss and Channel Island bank accounts of the African dictators and their lieutenants, to ensure that they retain the reigns of power necessary to maintain Africa in a permanent state of poverty, all so that liberal European and American "Christians" can continue to have a platform around which to sustain their self-identity ... of being liberals.

Dambisa Moyo, Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa (2009), writes:

"We live in a culture in which those who are better off subscribe -- both mentally and financially -- to the notion that giving alms to the poor is the right thing to do. In the past fifty years, over US$1 trillion in development-related aid has been transferred from rich countries to Africa...

(Note, that this figure presented by Moyo includes only what she calls "systematic aid", be it bilateral, government-to-government, or multilateral, government-to-government-via-institutions (like the World Bank). Her US$ 1 trillion figure does not include "charity-based" aid distributed by private charitable organizations (like Catholic Charties). Neither does it include "humanitarian or emergency aid" given by anyone in response to particular catastrophes or calamites.)

"But has more than US$1 trillion in development assistance over the last several decades made African people better off? No. In fact, across the globe the recipients of this aid are worse off; much worse off. Aid has helped make the poor poorer, and growth slower. Yet aid remains a centrepiece of today's development policy and one of the biggest ideas of out time.

"The notion that aid can alleviate systemic poverty, and has done so, is a myth. Millions in Africa are poorer today because of aid; misery and poverty have not ended but have increased. Aid has been, and continues to be, an unmitigated political, economic, and humanitarian disaster fro most parts of the developing world."

Of course, not all of Ms. Moyo's suggestions should be embraced: No, the American, European and other component societies of United European Christendom should not destroy the industries and lives of our farmers -- as we have already done so much to destroy the industries and lives of our manufacturing workers -- by opening the doors to mass imports of foodstuffs from Sub-Saharan Africa, India, etc., where $5 a day is a good wage (in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2012 the average per capita income is still only around US$1 per day). Still, for anyone seriously interested in this area -- start with Bono and Bill Gates -- her book should be read, as should the works of:

William Easterly, such as The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good (2006/2007)

"A Planner believes outsiders know enough to impose solutions. A Searcher believes only insiders have enough knowledge to find solutions, and that most solutions must be homegrown."

"Making debt forgiveness contingent on the supposed 'illegitimacy' of the original borrower simply creates perverse incentives by directing scarce aid resources to countries that have best proved their capacities to mismanage such funds...[I]n reality, there are few clear-cut political breaks with a corrupt past."

"The iron law of public finance states that money is fungible: Debt relief goes into the same government account that rains money on good and bad uses alike. Debt relief enables governments to spend more on weapons, for example...[I]f governments didn't spend the original loans on helping the poor, it's a stretch to expect them to devote new fiscal resources toward helping the poor. "

How do you think such works have been and will be received by those who make their livings/fortunes off of advocating for, administering and distributing foreign aid to Africa?
